**ARM Investigation USA – Animal Rights Investigation Series (2016–2025) | Kathmandu Films**
From 2016 to 2025, Kathmandu Films collaborated with ARM Investigation USA on a long-term investigative documentary series spanning over 20 episodes across Nepal and India. The project focused on exposing animal rights abuses, including illegal trade, inhumane treatment, and mass slaughter practices linked to festivals, religious activities, and commercial exploitation.
This extensive investigation involved deep research and undercover operations in key locations such as Sonpur and Jaipur in India, and Birgunj in Nepal. The team documented critical evidence through photo and video, revealing hidden networks of animal trafficking and the harsh conditions in which animals were caged, transported, and slaughtered. The findings contributed to increased awareness and advocacy around animal welfare and ethical practices.
Chandan Jha and Kathmandu Films worked as Line Producer and Fixer, leading research, undercover coordination, permits, logistics, and full on-ground production execution. The project required high-level discretion, rapid decision-making, and strong field expertise to operate effectively in sensitive and often non-cooperative environments.
The team faced significant challenges, including extreme temperatures reaching up to 45°C, resistance from local groups and authorities, and limited institutional support. Despite these conditions, Kathmandu Films successfully gathered substantial evidence across multiple episodes through persistence, strategic communication, and adaptive problem-solving.
This project stands as one of the most demanding and impactful works undertaken by Kathmandu Films, demonstrating its strength in handling complex investigative productions with precision, resilience, and a commitment to meaningful global issues.
