Blue Kangling | Kathmandu Films

Blue Kangling is a powerful documentary exploring Tibetan Buddhist perspectives on death, sky burial rituals, and the human experience in the remote Himalayas. Through immersive visuals and deeply reflective storytelling, the film captures rare cultural practices and spiritual philosophies surrounding mortality in one of the world’s most isolated regions.

This project marks Chandan Jha’s first documentary as Producer in 2017, representing an important milestone in his career. In addition to producing, he and Kathmandu Films also worked as Line Producer and Fixer in Nepal, managing filming permits, high-altitude logistics, local coordination, and full on-ground production support in Upper Mustang.

Filmed in extreme Himalayan conditions, the project required careful planning, cultural sensitivity, and precise execution. Blue Kangling highlights Kathmandu Films’ capability to deliver complex documentary productions in remote and challenging environments with professionalism and deep local expertise.
